Byrd Honors Scholarship Program is a federally funded program for high school graduates who show academic excellence and the promise of continued postsecondary education for a maximum of four years to be applied toward undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United States.

Congratulations Holly Hedberg -
  • TPA Senior Holly Hedberg has been selected as the winner of a National Merit $2500 Scholarship. This scholarship is underwritten by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) with its own funds. Although all students who attain Finalist standing in the National Merit Scholarship Program are distinguished, unfortunately not all Finalists receive a National Merit Scholarship. The National Merit Program is very competitive, and in recent years, just over half of the 15,000 Finalists have been selected to be Merit Scholar awardees.
  • Holly Hedberg won the AFA Teens for Alzheimer’s Awareness, sponsored Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, $5000 scholarship. (AFA Teens is a branch of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America).

Congratulations Mary Thomas -
  • TPA senior Mary Thomas has received the $4000 Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc. Scholarship, a Special Scholarship from National Merit Scholarship Corporation sponsored by Bridgestone Firestone Trust Fund.

By the way - Amalia won the 2007 essay contest, too!
  • Amalia Skilton won the Arizona State National History Day Contest. She will compete at the National Finals in Washington, D.C., June 15-19.
  • Amalia Skilton was accepted to the Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP). This is a highly competitive, 6-week seminar program, free to juniors. It had an acceptance rate of less than 10% this year. Amalia's program will be held at Cornell University.
