Newsroom :: Parent News and Announcements

Announcements and Updates for: current TPA and TPJA parents.

Student Attendance Guidelines

Please review the student attendance guidelines adopted by the Board of Directors in Jan. 2009.  We have begun to send out attendance letters for students that have accumulated at least 3 absences in any period, as well as tardies. After 3 or more tardies in a quarter, a student will be issued a detention.  Please click here for the guidelines.

Senior College Information

If you are the parent of a senior, make sure your student has asked you to sign the Transcript Release Form.  This is a one-time signature form.  After that, students request their transcripts with PrepHQ.  Transcripts will not be sent until Mrs. Davies receives the signed Transcript Release Form!  In general, all seniors should apply to an in-state school as soon as possible.  ASU’s merit scholarship deadline is December 1.  Any student interested in Barrett Honors College needs to be accepted to ASU first.

Seniors and their parents should save the date for the Senior Financial Aid Night, November 9, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm in Zelman.  Chris Ordway, a college financial planner from San Tan Financial, will be there to answer the questions I can’t.

Seniors Requesting Transcripts

All seniors were given updated information about the college application process at Tempe Prep, including their latest transcript.  Students should verify that the information on the transcript is correct.  Each senior should have brought home a blanket Transcript Release From to be signed by the student and a parent.  All transcript requests will now be made with PrepHQ, so it is important to verify the student’s name, address, and birth date.  These all appear on the transcript, and they need to match the information on the student’s college applications.  Test scores may be printed on the transcript, or not, as preferred.  Most test scores must be reported directly from the testing agency (College Board or ACT) but it is useful to the application readers to have the information all on the transcript.  Transcripts will not be sent until Mrs. Davis receives the signed Transcript Release Form.  Mrs. Davies (vdavies@tempeprep.org).

Fry’s Card Update

If you have a Fry's card that has no money on it and you have not used, it may have expired.  After 3 months or so of non-use, the cards expire - but it is not a big deal.  Just throw that card away and get a new one from Lori Beene.  You can reach her by phone, 480-730-6920, or by email, ldbeene@cox.net.

We received our first check from Fry's for $1,975 for purchases made from February 1, 2009 to July 31, 2009.  Earnings for the cards were posted to students' accounts!  The next check will come in early March, 2010.

If you shop at Fry's but don't have student fees you want to offset.  Go ahead and get a card and use it.   The funds can help the school in the general fund.
